Our Story
Silver Oak Farm was never part of the plan—until it became exactly what we were looking for.
After our children had grown, we wanted a place better suited to this new chapter. Downsizing was the goal, but for Howie, an avid sportsman, it also meant finding land to manage and preserve. After two years of searching, we put the idea on hold—until Howie took a chance on a farm he had long admired. One visit was all it took. Less than six months later, Silver Oak Farm became our home.
In 2021, we found ourselves with time to reflect on what we wanted to build here. Gardening had always been part of our lives, and after a small vegetable patch our first summer, we decided to try flowers. What started as an experiment quickly became something more, shaping the farm and how we spend our days.
And so, the work continues. What began as a simple desire to grow food and flowers has evolved into something we are excited to share—teaching gardening and culinary classes, gathering around the table, and feeding people well, with good food and beautiful flowers to enjoy.
